MISS UNIVERSE?: Hannah Pycroft is through to the final.

A BARRY girl has made it through to the final of Miss Universe UK!

Hannah Pycroft,18, has beaten hundreds of competitors to become one of the 50 girls in the final of Miss Universe UK, which will be held at Café de Paris in London on May 4.

The University of Glamorgan student said: "I'm really excited. I've never done anything like this before - it would be fantastic to win."

The girls will go through four rounds at the final - interview with the judges; little black dress; evening gown; and swimwear.

The winner will go on an all-expenses-paid three-week trip to Vietnam to take part in Miss Universe 2008.

She will also visit Australia, Mexico, Mongolia and Lapland as an ambassador for the Joshua Foundation - which gives life experiences to children with terminal cancer and their families.

Hannah is organising a fundraising event in Cardiff, with proceeds going to the Foundation.

The international Miss Universe competition is brand-owned by businessman Donald Trump - and the overall worldwide winner will spend a year in New York living in the Trump Tower with a diary full of international engagements.
