Vets put five past College
COLLEGE INN 2
PARK VETS 5
AFTER a minute's silence from both sides as a mark of respect for Roger Preece, an ex-Park player, the Vets began well against a strong 10-man College Inn side.
With about 10 minutes gone Park took the lead after some impressive play by Brian George saw him battle past several players and finish neatly.
Soon afterwards Park went 2-0 up, as a scramble in the box was finished off with a clean strike by Richard White.
College did have a strong 10 minute spell and were rewarded
with a goal, making it 2-1 half time.
In the first 20 minutes or so of the second half neither side created many chances, and they were pretty evenly matched. Park then started to play and take advantage of the extra man.
Man of the match Barney was stand-in right back and was a constant threat to the College Inn defence. It was Silva who headed home the third though, from another Gilo cross.
Park were now on top, and before long they went 4-1 up, when a lovely through ball by Jeff Preece to Silva saw him finish well and claim his second of the game.
College never gave up and pulled one back with a goalmouth scramble resulting in an own goal.
Park were not finished and with 2 minutes remaining, a parried shot from Silva was finished by Gilo making it 5-2 to Park Vets.
PARK VETS: S Collard, Barney, Narma, P Davies, G Griffith, B George, A White,Gilo, R White, J White, J Preece, Silva, J Issacs.
