Barry boy to lead City out at Wembley!
DELIGHTED: Callum Wallis from Barry will be leading the Bluebirds out at the FA Cup final on Saturday!
DELIGHTED: Callum Wallis from Barry will be leading the Bluebirds out at the FA Cup final on Saturday!

A YOUNG Bluebirds fan from Barry will walk out in front of a TV audience of 500 millon on Saturday - as he leads Cardiff City onto the Wembley pitch for the FA Cup final!

Nine-year-old Callum Wallis is a Cardiff City mascot for one of the biggest games in the club's history.

And the All Saints Primary School pupil is so excited about the prospect of leading the players out as they face Portsmouth in the final, that he hasn't been able to sleep all week.

"I don't know who I'll be walking out with yet - but I just can't wait," said Callum.

Callum and the team will be cheered on by the thousands of Bluebirds fans making the trip to Wembley - including many from Barry - as well as an estimated 500 million television viewers worldwide.

The youngster's big chance came after he won a national newspaper competition.

Mum Danielle said: "Callum goes to every Cardiff City home match and we had two tickets already - but they are giving us another two tickets, hospitality and a night in a hotel so we are really lucky!

"It means the family can go, and it's a dream come true for Callum. He can't stop smiling."

The nine-year-old said his favourite player is Roger Johnson, but he is so excited to be meeting all of the players.

He will also be given a new away strip to wear as he walks out.

Danielle added: "He is really excited, but so are we - we can't wait!"

Cardiff City face Premiership side Portsmouth in the final - the first time they have reached the last two since 1927, when they beat Arsenal 1-0 to lift the trophy.

James Fox's anthem Bluebirds Flying High, featuring some off the City players, this week hit number 15 in the charts.

Operatic star Katherine Jenkins is to sing the Welsh national anthem before the match.
