Barry BHF shop refurbishment

THE British Heart Foundation (BHF) shop is freshening up its presence at Barry this month.

Refurbishment work at the shop at the BHF shop at 138 Holton Road, Barry will commence at end of trading Saturday, May 17.

This will mean that the shop will close at end of trading on Saturday, May 17, and will re-open on Friday, May 30.

This fresh new look will also coincide with an appeal in the Barry area, urging residents to have a clear-out this month and help turn unwanted items into lifesaving research and equipment.

By dropping off donations to a BHF Shop, locals will be joining the BHF in its fight against heart and circulatory disease, which remains the UK's biggest killer.

Terri Hughes, Area Manager for the BHF Shop in Barry says: "No matter how much or how little you have to donate, it all really does make a difference to help the BHF fund much-needed research, education, patient care and life-saving equipment.

"Just one bag of good quality donations could pay for a Heartstart UK training pack - essential for schools to teach pupils the vital skills needed to keep someone alive until professional help arrives."

Every four bags of good quality items donated could enable someone living with the effect of heart disease to set up a Heart Support Group in their community, giving them, their family and friends the chance to meet and talk to people who have gone through similar experiences.

Terri Hughes added: "We all have items at home gathering dust, taking these unwanted items down to a local BHF Shop is a great way of giving them a new lease of life - and also the perfect opportunity to pick up something new!

"If we all donated just one carrier bag of good quality items this month, it would help the BHF continue its life-saving work and keep thousands more hearts beating each year."
